Instructor and translator of English and Italian
About me
Originally from Milan, Italy, I moved to New York in the eighties where I opened my own communication and marketing firm representing Italian fashion and textile companies doing business in the USA. After my two sons were born, I left New York and changed career to be involved in my children’s development and school years. I transitioned from fashion to teaching, which is my true passion.
Experience
In 1996 I founded “Curious Minds”, a cooperative preschool where I developed and taught programs for preschoolers. I later became a children’s librarian focusing on storytelling and children’s literature from toddlers through high school. In 2006 I joined Ohio University as a full-time faculty member teaching all levels of Italian. In addition, I also taught courses on Italian cinema. I taught courses in-person and online. I have translated literature and scholarly texts. I also taught Italian at a private elementary and middle school and ESL (English as a second language) to South American immigrant families.
Translation
Throughout my career I have translated marketing and press material, annual reports, business documents, scholarly literature, and educational material. Currently, consistent with my experience as a children’s librarian, I am focusing on translating children’s and young adult’s literature.
Teaching
I can meet in-person, or remotely and can teach individually or in small groups. Times and duration of the lessons will be decided together based on individual needs. I work with everyone’s level of English and can prepare short or long-term learning programs.
